i'm okay!

phuket - phi phi ferry burns

sunny 36 °C
View iain goes bananas on idhowe's travel map.

Just in case anyone was worried - not sure whether this makes the international newslines or not - I'm fine, alive and kicking and heading for Koh Lanta this morning.

Yesterday afternoon, while I was at Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Leh (where the beach scenes in "the beach" were shot - more about that later), there was a cloud of smoke on the horizon. Turns out that one of the ferries from Phuket heading towards Phi Phi burned from bow to stern. I was not on this ferry! No one actually got hurt, as all the passengers merely jumped overboard and were picked up by other boats.

Anyway, must rush now, or I'll miss the boat to Lanta. I'll put pictures of Maya Bay up soon.
cheers,
i

hello citizen of the world!

We both made it to the finishing line !!! Well done to the two of us !!!

i come in your inbox in peace :) and with a big smile! :) I am dying to share you something that only you still don’t know !!! and that’s a “shame on me” situation !!!

do u remember my advise on the jumping thing...well ironically, I myself made one on the very next day …a jump between the balcony and the stage sections, with the hard cement of Ahoy 20 m below! It was crazy!!! Once that was done, all we had to do is be cute and get all the way to the very front !!! a few steps away from Maxi Jazz !!! YEEEEEE … for a few magical hours !!! imagine how I felt when he said “we come” and then thousands of us “ONE”, all with the one finger up, for the one faith we all shared that night! …and when I heard him screaming “and this is how we create a peaceful nation” my heart was simply exploding from an indescribable inner joy!

And we had our Queen’s day last weekend and yes, the same old crazy crowded streets, smiles, fun and fights, with the new global warming situation and of course the tons of garbage after that!

In short: life is beautiful, the world is big and we are all one!

Advice: enjoy the breathtaking beaches, keep in your heart the interesting people you meet and update us on your next destination. AND thank you from the bottom of my small heart for the grand gesture of remembering my seashell obsession :)

The end: …is only the beginning!
